10 simple and delicious recipes with coffee for winter

1. a refreshing salad with a coffee vinaigrette
Coffee in a salad? Never heard of that before? But don't worry, just give it a try - a flavour explosion guaranteed!
You will need the following ingredients:
- Lettuce (lettuce, lollo rosso etc.)
- Lamb's lettuce
- 1 Orange
- 1 ripe mango
- Mozzarella
- Coconut chips
- 1 strong, cold espresso (of the coffees, the "Impressa" is ideal, as it has a very strong flavour and is perfect as a strong espresso).
- Curry powder
- Salt and pepper
Wash the lettuce, peel the mango and cut into small cubes. Drain the mozzarella and also cut into cubes. Squeeze the orange and mix the juice with the espresso. Add salt, pepper and curry powder and mix everything well again. Then pour everything over the salad and mix well with the dressing. Finally, garnish with the coconut chips - bon appétit!
2. coffee-pumpkin soup
I'm sure you've never had a soup with these flavours before. And we don't mean just any ingredients, but ground coffee beans.
You will need the following:
- 1 Hokkaido pumpkin, diced
- 1 chopped onion
- 3 chopped carrots
- Butter
- Water
- 40 g ground coffee beans (we recommend the "Cafe Creme" coffee variety, as its mild blend harmonises perfectly with the other ingredients)
- 1 litre vegetable stock
- 100 ml cream
- some pumpkin seed oil
Sauté the onion in butter and then add the carrots and ground beans. Leave everything to sweat for about 5 minutes. Now cook the pumpkin in the vegetable stock and puree it when it is ready. Then mix the pumpkin with the carrots, bring everything to the boil briefly and refine with the cream. Serve the soup with a little pumpkin seed oil and coffee powder - enjoy!
3. steak with a special crust
Coffee and meat - partners for highly explosive flavour. Get high quality beef steaks, because only the best is good enough for you! The ingredients are calculated for 2 people and the recipe is also suitable for novice cooks:
- 2 beef steaks
- Neutral oil
For the crust you need:
- 2 tsp coffee powder (try the strong "Riguardo", you'll see it works!)
- 2 tbsp hot paprika
- 5 tsp brown sugar
- Oregano
- fresh pepper, ground
- ground mustard seeds and coriander
- Chilli powder and ginger
- Salt
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Salt the steaks and rub them with the "spice mixture". Then place the meat in the fridge and leave to marinate. Then bring the meat back to room temperature. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Fry the steaks on both sides in a roasting tin to get a crispy crust. Then place this roasting tin in the oven and cook for between 5 and 10 minutes. Then enjoy the flavour in combination with the meat.
4. dessert won't keep you waiting: here's a coffee and walnut cake for you
Do you love the unusual? Then this cake is just the thing for you. Because you'll be surprised by the ingredients. Let's get started:
- 1 large potato, peeled, diced
- 150 ml cold coffee (all varieties from our coffee centre are suitable - you decide)
- 120 g butter
- 400 g brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- Vanilla extract
- 240 g flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Boil the potato, mash it and put it to one side. Mix the butter and sugar and add the eggs, vanilla extract and potato and mix well. Mix the flour with the baking powder and salt and add to the potato mixture. Now prepare an espresso and add it to the dough - except for a "shot" which you put to one side. Then pour the batter into a cake tin and bake at 180 degrees for approx. 30 minutes.
In the meantime, make the icing. You will need
- 400 g icing sugar
- 2 tbsp butter (melted)
- 1 tbsp cocoa
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 100 g chopped walnuts
In a bowl, mix the icing sugar with the butter, cocoa and a shot of espresso. Pour the icing over the cooled cake and sprinkle with the chopped walnuts to finish - and then enjoy!
5. coffee-banana shake
And if you want to enjoy it in liquid form from time to time, but not in the traditional way, then you should remember this recipe.
- 1 large, ripe banana
- 1 cup of cold coffee (use the well-tolerated yet strong-tasting "Malabar" from our shop)
- 1 cup milk, cold
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp chocolate shavings
Mix all the ingredients together and then place briefly in the fridge. You can enjoy it with a dollop of cream or on its own - you will be surprised at how well everything harmonises and, above all, tastes.
6. coffee syrup
Do you need something to upgrade your pudding, custard or ice cream? Then you will certainly need the ingredients listed below.
- 180 g ground coffee (use our house blend, you'll always get it right)
- 500 ml water
- 180 g brown sugar
- possibly a dash of rum
Bring the coffee and water to the boil and simmer over a low heat for approx. 20 minutes. Then press this mixture through a cloth and mix the liquid with sugar and bring to the boil again for approx. 5 minutes until the sugar has caramelised. You can then bottle the finished syrup. You can add a dash of rum to the syrup if you wish.
7. coffee brownies
You can never get enough of delicious sweets. And this irresistible brownie recipe is no exception.
- 180 g chocolate, chopped
- 130 g butter
- 30 g cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of coffee powder (we recommend a strong coffee powder suitable for espresso, such as the "Impressa")
- 250 g brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 100 g flour
- Pinch of salt
- 125 ml espresso, cold
- 50 ml dry red wine
- 100 g pecan nuts
- Icing sugar
- Baking tin
Preheat the oven and line the baking tin with baking paper. Melt the chocolate and butter over a bain-marie. Then mix in the cocoa and coffee powder. Then mix in the sugar and eggs. Mix the flour with a pinch of salt and add this to the mixture. Finally, add the espresso and red wine, then pour the mixture into the baking tin and sprinkle with the coarsely chopped pecans. Bake on the middle shelf for approx. 40 minutes. Leave to cool, cut into pieces, sprinkle with icing sugar and start crushing the brownies.
8. suitable for Christmas: Coffee biscuits
Great tasting and quick to bake. The biscuits with that special something. Let us surprise you.
- 3 tbsp coffee
- 1 egg
- 50 g cream
- 200 g white chocolate coating
- 25 g mocha beans
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 300 g flour
- 150 g butter
- 75 g brown sugar
Firstly, run two cups of strong coffee through your Jura coffee machine. You will need one cup for the biscuits and one cup to enjoy while you make the biscuits. Leave this to cool and then mix it with the flour, butter, egg and sugar and knead everything into a nice smooth dough. Then put it in the fridge for about 1 hour. Bring the cream to the boil and gradually add the chocolate coating. Stir until you have a smooth mixture. Leave the mixture to cool. Preheat the oven and roll out the dough. Now cut out biscuits in your desired shape and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for approx. 10 minutes. Leave to cool and then coat with the chocolate coating, then place a second biscuit on top. Garnish again with chocolate coating and decorate with a mocha bean and cocoa powder.
9. how about a coffee liqueur?
As quickly as you have made this, you will have drunk it down just as quickly. So let's get started.
- 300 g sugar
- 250 ml 96%igen alcohol
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
- 500 ml espresso
Boil the espresso and add the vanilla sugar. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Now add the alcohol (you can buy this in a pharmacy) and mix everything well. Pour the mixture into a nice bottle, leave to cool and then seal. Serve the liqueur ice cold, as this tastes best.
10. iced espresso foam - a special kind of experience
You will need the following for this unusual flavour experience:
- 1 tbsp coffee beans
- 50 ml espresso
- 1 tsp icing sugar
- 170 g cream
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tbsp rum
- 50 g sugar
Heat a pan and roast the coffee beans in it for approx. 5 minutes. Then pour approx. 50 g of cream into a bowl, mix in the coffee beans and leave to infuse in the fridge for approx. 2 hours. Boil the coffee in a pan and add the sugar. After boiling briefly, leave to cool. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks over a bain-marie until frothy, then add the espresso and continue stirring. Then leave to cool again in a very cold bain-marie and add the rum. Whip the remaining cream until stiff and fold in the espresso foam. Pour into glasses and place in the freezer. Then enjoy.
